I have a painting in the current group show WORD at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, NY. It opened Feb 27 and has just been extended through Dec 17, due to a favorable response to the exhibition, and there is a variety of programming planned throughout the year. It is a lively and diverse show and I'm pleased to be part of it. My piece seems different from many of the others- quieter maybe- but it fits. Titled 'Enjoy Sealtest', it is 28"x36" acrylic on canvas and based on an old metal sign I photographed somewhere upstate.

I was driving near my old neighborhood in upper Manhattan and decided to see if one of my favorite subjects was still there (I knew it would be), this lovely subway sign at the A stop in Fort Tryon park. So many things I've photographed and painted (like the first phone booth) seem to disappear, as if I'd found them just in time. But there's no reason this would have gone anywhere. And with the late afternoon winter light shining through the letters.
