I found these 6.5" square wooden frame boxes and thought they'd work well for my smallest painting/collage pieces. It sets the tiny (2-3") works apart and makes a sort of cabinet for them. The frames are 1 1/4" deep and were unfinished wood that I'm painting either black or off-white. I have a few different size frames; they inspire playing with mixed media or combining the little works on paper I've made and didn't have a 'plan' for. Who knew, there is always a plan, somewhere, eventually.

I like painting on wood and leaving some of it showing through, as in these two pieces- the sunglasses are based on a pair I found last month that actually have wood frames (more or less), and the cones are based on many similar ones that I have eaten this summer. Except then they would be all coffee ice cream. The texture of bare maple grain contrasting with the opaque acrylic paint. This is one advantage of having access to a woodshop. I can't use the table saw but I can rummage for scraps.

I have a show of about a dozen new bright paintings at Oak Vino Wine Bar in Beacon. The opening reception is this Sat Aug 13, 7-9pm. Hours: Sat 3-11, Sun 1-7, Wed-Fri 5-10.
The title comes from a whimsical comment a friend posted when I first shared this painting.
It has been a few weeks since my last blog but in the meantime I try to post on my @erica_hauser Instagram feed. 
Also I want to add that this is not a very good photo of this painting, it is new so I haven't had it well-photographed yet, the same with all the new paintings. They look okay on the tiny IG feed but not on my computer or presumably anyone else's!
