the rest is history revisited

I just found this photograph (early 1940's) of my grandmother and my father as a little boy, perched on a car. Theirs? A relative's? I don't know. I never knew her; she died years before I was born, but I like her style. Then my friend pointed out this painting I had done 2 years ago, a self-portrait of me leaning against an uncannily similar antique car (based on a photograph taken of me w/the car at a farm market). I know it is random, but we were still a bit awed by the connection.
